Zoloft Panic Attack


 

Zoloft panic attack medication is among many drugs available to day used in the treatment of panic attacks.  This drug belongs to the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) family of drugs.  It is a new type of anti-depressant drug recently brought to the United States, after Prozac.  Serotonin is a chemical messenger made from nerve cells in the brain which the nerves use to communicate with each other.  Zoloft panic attack treatment helps the brain to keep the levels of neurotransmitter Serotonin at appropriate levels despite the fact that the levels become low due to panic attacks. 

A panic attack is a sudden unreasonable fear of panic, terror, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, anxiety, agitation, nausea,, feeling of doom, feeling of losing your mind, numbness and tingling.  At least four of the above symptoms are present in a panic attack.  The attack usually peaks within ten minutes of the onset and lasts for about thirty minutes.

A Zoloft panic attack drug is useful in the treatment of panic attacks because it can help someone to keep some control over themselves and can help prevent personality changes.

To begin with, a low dosage is prescribed to the patient by the physician.  Zoloft is gradually increased until they reach a therapeutic level.  The drugs tend to have fewer side effects than the older anti-depressants.

No matter how useful Zoloft panic attack treatment is, people have reported slight nausea, jittery feelings, insomnia, dizziness, upset stomach, and skin irritations.  These are the most common symptoms when people are taking the SSRIs.   These symptoms do disappear.  Usually the doctor will recommend changing to a different SSRI to alleviate the problems.

You must take care of yourself properly in order for Zoloft to help you.  Also, be aware of the danger of the drug.  Do not take any monoamine oxidase which on Zoloft panic attack medicine.  You should stop taking the monoamine oxidase inhibitor at least two weeks before starting Zoloft.

The two drugs combined can be fatal when combined.  Certain other medications do conflict with taking Zoloft panic attack medication.  Check with your doctor for advice.

It takes about four to six weeks for Zoloft to start blocking panic attack.  The full effect of the treatment could take up to three months
