Severe Panic Attack
A severe panic attack is characterized by certain symptoms such as fast heart beat, tingling, or numbness, nausea the feeling of terror, and intense fear. The difference between the panic attack and the severe panic attack is that with a panic attack, a person is usually capable of controlling their breathing and other symptoms and regain their focus. With the severe panic attack, a person has the sense of losing their mind and a fear that they might die. No one will die from a panic attack unless they have underlying problems such as heart trouble. Some people are even able to get through the panic attack. They can deal with the symptoms and eventually learn that nothing will happen to them – and they won’t die. They minimize the severity of the panic attack. One way of addressing a severe panic attack is through Introceptive Desensitization. This method makes the afflicted patient non-reactive to the symptoms of the severe panic attack. It results on a large reduction in the frequency and intensity of the severe panic attack. This treatment is performed with the guidance of a mental health professional. The person must be medically released medically from a physician in order to participate in these symptom induction exercises. Some of the symptom induction exercises will last for about one minute. Some of the exercises are: · Holding your breath – creates a feeling of being out of breath. · Breathing through a straw – creates airway restriction. · Intentionally hyperventilating – causes lightheadedness, dizziness, and blurred vision to occur. · Running in place – Causes the heart to race. To alleviate the symptoms of a severe panic attack, symptoms induction should be performed for three to five minutes a day until the patient is able to lose the feeling of anxiety that is related to a particular symptom. Hopefully the fears will completely disappear. Eventually, the patient will learn that these symptoms are normal bodily functions that can be brought on at anytime and can be relieved just as easily. These symptoms induction exercises are an example of natural panic attack cures. A severe panic attack is progressive: · First week before the initial panic attack, there may be some minor symptoms such as tachycardia. · When the first severe attack happen, the person will probably be fearful and end up at the emergency room. · When the next attack happens further medical help is sought out at the doctor’s office. · Next, comes the fear of having another panic attack. There is the avoidance of certain places because the person becomes embarrassed of having a panic attack in public and losing control. · Agoraphobia – the person begins to avoid certain places, situations, and activities because they fear having a severe panic attack there. Church, restaurants, shopping malls, meetings, driving and airplanes are some the person may avoid. · After months of such evasive behavior the severe panic attack sufferers may become demoralized and depressed. Medical treatment for severe panic attacks can come from anti-depressants such as Zoloft, Paxil, and Paxil CR which are all FDA approved for treating panic disorders.
